AEIS Government School Admission Overview:
AEIS is a standardized admission exam organized by the Singapore Ministry of Education, serving as the sole pathway for international students to apply to Singapore government schools. Students who meet the exam’s cutoff score and demonstrate strong academic performance are admitted to pursue their studies in these institutions. The exams are conducted twice annually, in late September (AEIS) and late February (S-AEIS). S-AEIS functions as a supplementary exam, maintaining similar formats and difficulty levels. For simplicity, AEIS will be used to refer to both.
For primary school applicants aged 7-12 participating in AEIS, eligibility requires achieving specified scores in the Cambridge CEQ English tests (KET or PET) prior to registering for the AEIS mathematics exam. During the assessment, both CEQ English test scores and AEIS mathematics scores are considered, with higher scores enhancing the chances of admission.
Secondary school applicants aged 12-16 applying for AEIS need only participate in standard English and mathematics exams. Successful performance in these exams secures admission. AEIS exams cover content aligned with the Singapore syllabus, assessing students’ English and mathematics proficiency at their applied grade level. Over the years, parents of international students have shown keen interest in Singapore’s robust bilingual education foundation and prestigious primary and secondary school resources. Studying in Singapore government schools via AEIS offers a highly cost-effective pathway and effectively establishes a solid academic groundwork for students.
Miles Education is the institution with the highest success rate in planning for studying abroad in Singapore government schools. We offer two study abroad programs as follows:
Applying for Private Primary and Secondary Schools in Singapore --> Transitioning to Government Primary and Secondary Schools through AEIS Exam
Private primary and secondary schools are qualified to process the passes, and the mothers of the students can accompany their children to study abroad, take care of their children’s living and eating, and supervise their children’s studies.
Private primary and secondary school fees are very cost-effective. Monthly tuition fees at private secondary schools are only $500 SGD higher compared to government secondary schools.
Private primary and secondary schools follow the same curriculum, extracurricular activities, and management styles as government schools. Students who transition to government schools after studying in private schools do not require any adjustment period and can seamlessly adapt to the government school environment.
The knowledge acquired by students in private schools can be directly applied in the AEIS exam.
If a student does not succeed in the AEIS exam, the comprehensive educational system of private primary and secondary schools facilitates students in continuing to enhance their academic abilities. They can upgrade their skills while preparing for the next AEIS exam.
Applying to Singapore Private AEIS Preparatory Schools --> Transitioning to Government Primary and Secondary Schools through AEIS Exam
The AEIS preparatory courses offer excellent value for money, with monthly fees for secondary school preparatory courses being only $500 SGD higher compared to government secondary schools.
The content of the AEIS preparatory courses is 100% geared towards the AEIS exam.
AEIS preparatory courses emphasize time efficiency, offering flexible durations of 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months to cater to varying student needs.
AEIS preparatory courses focus on exam-oriented training, enabling students to build a solid foundation in a shorter period to prepare for the exam.
Due to a lack of understanding of AEIS standards and difficulty, some candidates hastily prepare or even enter the exam room unprepared. This often results in disappointment for those aiming to study in government schools, with complaints about the exam’s difficulty. In reality, the scope of AEIS exams for each grade level is predictable, and diligent effort alone can lead to success. Private schools offer a transition period of 3-6 months, allowing international students to thoroughly prepare for the AEIS exam.
